Ladies Influence

Billie Holiday
Sojourner Truth: Everything about her is pure and worthy.

"... I improvised, crazed by the music... Even my teeth and eyes burned with fever. Each time I leaped I seemed to touch the sky and when I regained earth it seemed to be mine alone."
I love this lady, and everything she stood for. She lived such a vibrant life, giving out as much love as possible through her dancing and singing, and then later on in life, to those little children who had nobody to care for them. Her orphanage filled with children of every colour must have been lush. She had no money by that point, so her rich friends kept it going financially.
Dorothy Dandridge.
The first black woman to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
Unfortunately, it all turned sour for Dorothy after this, America was not ready for a black superstar. Sad, but true.

Does she remind you of anybody? Anita Pallenberg, quite a dark character this one. So the story goes, she liked to dabble with the occult and drugs. Tragedy seemed to follow her for a while, but she still lives to tell the tale. I fell for her purely because of her role as the Great Tyrant in the film Barbarella. She owned that role, I love it, one of my favourite film bitches. I remember thinking she should have been in the film more. She had fresh style to by the looks of it.

  1. Wonderful photos, all of 'em. I longed to be Anita Pallenberg for years and years. I will have to share this post with the husband (a jazz & pop culture addict.)

  2. Thank you sister, I am glad you enjoyed. Blogging is so much more fun than actual work, long live my boss and his tolerance.

Anita is a goddess, she seemed to have more going for her than the average groupie, and I do admire a human who can cain it so wantonly, and still live to tell the tale. Unlike me, who is a lightweight, apart from when drinking with sailors, then I am on fire. x
